PALILULA PAST AND PRESENT MONOGRAPHIC OBSERVATIONS

`Niska Palilula` (Palilula of Nis) monograph book by Jovica Vasic, publicist and journalist, realized by Palilula Municipality at the end of 2011 in cooperation with Nis Cultural Center, was promoted in Nis University. After PhD Igor Novakovic, president of Palilula Municipality greeting and welcoming speech about the significance of this valuable cultural project, also spoke PhD Mile Ilic, president of Nis City Assembly, Milan Djurdjevic, president of Palilula Municipal Assembly, Srdjan Savic, director of Nis Cultural Center and the author of Monograph, sociologist Jovica Vasic. The programme of work promotion was enriched with excellent performance of vocal group `Constantin`.

`Niska Palilula` monographic work was graphically shaped by Mile Radicevic with many documents and photos by Miroslav Lavrencic, Jovan Surdilovic, Dragan Vidojkovic, Branislav Tikic, Milan Stojanovic, Jovan Ilic illustrating the decades of fast Palilula development. According to the estimation of the reviewers - PhD Dragan Nikolic and PhD Miomir Naumovic, the author Jovica Vasic put great efforts in writing the monograph `Niska Palilula` in the sense of exploration and collected many facts by which he approved once more exploring excellence. Monographic work represents one round complete wholeness that in better way pictures past and present of Palilula, but also in wider meaning, gives better contribution to better introducing Nis history in whole.

In this addressing to the public at the promotion of Municipal monographic work, president Novakovic expressed his gratitude the names of his own and his associates to the author of the text and the authors of photo materials, all associates and reviewers who helped in monograph creating. He reminded that because of great society transformations, not only transition but also the fact that we have changed a few `homelands` only by living in one place, where big division of wealth happened, created new social groups, we have been in many problems so far, life in our local communities during the first millennium got new dimension. In the former period all the interests, individual and group also, have gone through politic and political divisions of those on the head of various ideologies. We, in Palilula Municipality, emphasized Novakovic, decided to turn to ourselves and our own activities. Politics was left for us on the side. Citizens of Palilula Municipality and improvement of life quality in Palilula are the priorities of our development. There are many associates and just one common idea-that this book, as a book of scientific work, where esthetic and scientific meanings are connected, is to be written to be enough professional and scientific, but also very in easy –reading style, available to all Nis citizens; to leave the permanent mark to cultural inheritance of our city and our `Palilula of Nis`.

Palilula Municipality in its own Strategy of development gave special place to science and realized the firm relation between scientific achievements and local self government. Two years took for this book to be written; maybe it is short period for this type of work, since Palilula lived, has lived and lives many of the things daily to put all those in only two years. We have succeeded in our wishes and our result is here today and we are all here today for it. `Niska Palilula` is the crown of our work in this area. She rounds all our efforts that one old maybe little forgotten elite Nis continue its own life in the correct way, that new generations easily find facts about their Palilula – place where their ancestors lived their lives and place where their children will and grandchildren will live their Palilula days. We are very proud that we are actually one of just few municipalities that has its own monographic book – emphasized president Novakovic, but also we think that we all deserve it. I hope, in the end, that you will all enjoy in the pictures and words that present and describe Palilula in the way it really is.
